Job Description

We’re looking for an AS/400 Systems Engineer to provide day-to-day support and maintenance operation of our hardware, operating systems, and related applications. Our ideal candidate is a detail and service-oriented team player with strong communication skills and the proven ability to perform at a high level.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Administer AS/400 (iSeries) hardware and operating system version v5r4 or greater
• Perform daily tape backup and storage administration functions including tape rotation, turnover reporting and offsite archiving
• Ensure accurate and timely communication related to customer contact, technical support, status reporting, shift turnover meetings, service calls to vendors, and documentation
• Provide top-notch on-site and remote support and account administration for various services, operating systems, and applications including problem/issue identification, analysis, resolution, and process improvements
• Document and implement disaster recovery methods
• Assist with the development, documentation and maintenance of policies including security, change management, business continuity, facility planning and messaging

Education/Experience
• High school diploma required, college degree preferred
• 5 years related work experience
• Related certification a plus

Required Knowledge/Skills
• 5 years AS/400 (iSeries) administration in a TCP/IP environment
• Strong OS/400 v5r4 CL language
• JDE World and One World administration
• System performance and utilization management
• System version upgrades and patch (PTF) management
• 3rd party applications and reporting tools (Fastfax, Snapshoot, Qwestview and Message Plus)
• Microsoft Windows desktop and servers

Preferred Knowledge/Skills
• Disk Management and capacity planning
• Veritas/Symantec Backup EXEC and DB2 database experience
• SAN storage concepts
